February 18, 2010
Additional quantities of erythromycin ointment, used for prophylaxis of ophthalmia neonatorum, have become available from two companies. Fera Pharmaceuticals is releasing ointment in 50-x-1 gram packaging, and Bausch & Lomb continues to release the medication in the same configuration.

Previous updates and guidance on erythromycin ointment shortages can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Web site.
